Investment of $28M by a Biotechnology company in Visalia

One of the leading firms devoted to the research and development of biotech and pharma products is making an investment of 28 million dollars into its newly opened warehouse distribution center located in Visalia.

Soon the Visalia Industrial Park will be homing a new contemporary 120 thousand-square foot distribution center for a life science leader; MilliporeSigma, which is focused on the development and manufacture of technologies, scientific lab materials, and services in the region of equipment, pharmaceuticals, as well as, food and drug testing.

On 2nd June, the construction on the new site was initiated with a remarkable ceremony attended by the representatives of the MilliporeSigma, Scannell Properties, developer, the City of Visalia, and the Tulare County Board of Supervisors. It is being expected that the construction will be finishing in 4th quarter of this year and by the end of 2019, it will be fully operational.

Mayor of Visalia, Bob Link passed a statement which said that their industrial park will be providing help to Visalia in continuing the diversification of the economy while bringing in outside wealth to make it circulate within the local economy. Hence they are thrilled to have another community member in Millipore Sigma, as well as, a development partner in Scannell Properties.

It was noted by the representatives from MilliporeSigma that Visalia was selected as the location for the construction of the new facility due to its centralized location. At present, MilliporeSigma provides services to its customers on the west, which results in an increased freight time. It was stated by the firm that the new site is part of its plan of boosting the regional service, as well as, reducing reliance on third party logistics. The firm also said that it is only focusing on shipping domestically from the facility currently, however, there is a possibility of international shipping to commence in the future.
