Unichem, Macleods Pharma withdraws drugs from the US market

Unichem Pharmaceuticals and the Macleods Pharma are bringing back tablets used for treating high blood pressure, diabetes. They are getting it back from the USA market.

Unichem Pharmaceuticals USA Inc is recalling 1.91 crore components of Clonidine Hydrochloride tablets used for treating high blood pressure from the US market.

The company is recollecting units of Clonidine Hydrochloride tablets, USP 0.1 mg factory-made by Unichem LaboratoriesNSE 1.14 % Ltd at Goa facility.

The reason for the intended ongoing nationwide is “failed impurities/degradation provisions. This recall is started as a protective amount due to possible migration of Benzophenone at very low level into product from container label, according to the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).

Macleods Pharma is recalling 4694 bottles of Pioglitazone and Metformin Hydrochloride tablets.
As per the USFDA, a class III recall is started in a “situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product is not likely to cause contrary health consequences.
